Lessons from Life...

1- Cause for sorrow is lack of understanding.

2- Patience is a reflection of the peaceful mind.
A peaceful mind is able to cope with all situations without becoming disturbed and agitated. It calmly accepts the resolution of circumstances and, with this patience, acquires the power to deal with all situations.

3- What others think, say or do, we can at best influence but not control. However what we think, say or do, can be controlled by us!

4- The ability to be firm (in an adverse situation) has to be balanced with its complementing ability to be flexible (adapt to a situation). (Remember it is balanced use of brake & accelerator both that takes a car to the destination safely!)

5- How do we judge the situation (whether to be firm or flexible) correctly? Realizing the following improves our chances.
a) When our mind is free from preferences, prejudices or emotional disturbances, we are likely to perceive the situation correctly (as the surface of a lake free from ripples reflects the image of reality without distortion)
b) When the intention behind our action is enabling (or improving the collective good) eventually people/circumstances fall in line.
c) For success, it is not enough to have good intention (purpose) alone. It must be supported with good actions(the process or way of doing it).

6- If nothing else seems to work it could be repaying the debt of our ‘karmic account’ with other souls. In that case it helps to remember that even this day will pass away!

I was impressed by your blog. It has attracted some interesting comments. Don't you think that religion, as well as (possibly) providing pointers to ultimate truths can also be used as a means of controlling and stifling natural spirituality?

I would have to say that I believe religion to (more often than not) be a direct hindrance on a strong spiritual connection with God. What is usually intended as a means for staying on a spiritually pure path, often ends up clouding the way and leading one into useless man-made rituals. Spirituality is the way, not religion. Well, that's just my opinion

Since worldly perception rests on lack of knowledge,
those who still use their physical abilities to
perceive this lack in themselves and others,
only do so because they have not totally accepted
salvation and given themselves over to God.

Worldly perception is based on a separated state,
(spiritual and physical) so that anyone who still
perceives lack at all is in need of healing.

Communion, and the understanding that we
are all one and the same is the natural state
of those who have accepted the gift of salvation.

God and His creations are inseparable.
How beautiful indeed are the Thoughts
of God who lives in His own light and truth!

Your worth therefore is beyond your own perception
while you are still holding on to worldly understanding
because your worth is beyond doubt
while worldly understanding is governed by doubt.

Do not attempt to perceive yourself
as an entity of flesh living in the world.
First see yourself as a spirit
created in the image of God.

Then you will know yourself in the One Light
where the creation that is you
is perfectly clear and flawless.
